Upstate murder suspect arrested in Myrtle Beach, police say

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A Union man wanted in connection with a deadly Upstate shooting was arrested Wednesday in Myrtle Beach, authorities said.

Union County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Coffer said in a news release that Gerald Djuan Hughes, 26, was taken into custody by the sheriff’s deputies, Myrtle Beach police and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents.

Hughes is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with a March 16 shooting along Whitmire Highway in Union County.

Hughes is being transported back to Union County for a bond hearing.
