  • Julia Haart is the star of the Netflix reality TV show My Unorthodox Life.

  • She met her husband, Silvio Scaglia Haart, after getting hired at La Perla.

  • After many years of friendship and two years of marriage, Julia filed for a divorce early last week.

After nearly 3 years of marriage, Julia Haart has filed for divorce from her husband and long-time friend Silvio Scaglia Haart.

The news has left many fans in shock considering how movie-like their romance appeared onscreen. Before Julia Haart starred on Netflix's reality TV show My Unorthodox Life, her and Silvio's love story is one that fans of When Harry Met Sally and Groundhog Day would likely recognize.

After leaving her Orthodox Jewish community and launching Julia Haart Shoes in 2013, Julia first met Silvio when her footwear line had a co-branding opportunity with La Perla, an Italian luxury lingerie company where he was CEO. Later, in 2016, she was brought on as creative director at La Perla. And it wasn't long before the two started butting heads.

Just last year she told Women's Health, "The first year [of working together] was very combative." But once they got to know each other better, they became good friends. "We started to get to know each other, and I really respected him," Julia explained. Their relationship eventually blossomed into something more, and the two got married in June of 2019.

News of the couple's divorce came on Feb. 9, just hours after Julia was fired from her position as co-owner and CEO of Elite World Group, a fashion and talent agency. And now, new details about their split have been released.

The pair are fighting it out in court.

Sources have confirmed that Julia and Silvio did not have a prenuptial agreement, meaning the divorce could get "very messy," according to Page Six. Then, on Feb. 10, Julia petitioned a court for a restraining order against Silvio. In court documents, Julia said she is “scared for my safety and the safety of my children, some of whom reside with me,” per Page Six.

“Over the past several weeks, [Silvio] has become increasingly volatile, abusive and unhinged," the documents continued. “Recently, [he] became increasingly controlling and verbally and emotionally abusive towards me."

“In January 2022, I confronted [Silvio] about his abusive behavior and told him that if anyone ever heard how he acts and speaks to me, they would think he is a horrible person. In response, [he] threatened me, stating: ‘If you ever go to the press about how I treat you or the kids, I will kill you.’"

“He further stated, ‘I will kill you in the public eye. I will destroy your reputation.’ As a public figure and the CEO of Elite World Group, my reputation is everything. As a result of [his] threats, I have experienced severe emotional distress."

Julia also addressed her recent firing in the petition: “Recently, he summarily and without cause dismissed me from our jointly owned business, cut off my credit cards, and made baseless allegations against me.”

Now, Silvio is suing Julia and claims she stole $850,000 after she was fired from a company account that the couple shared. A source revealed that money may have been the motive behind Julia's firing in the first place: “The way she ran this company as her personal pocketbook" was the last straw, they told Page Six.

Another insider revealed that “Julia was spending on extras like travel, glam, clothes, driver. She has a full-time driver and two Bentleys. She has a Hamptons rental, she flies private, she stays at the penthouse at luxury hotels … She has custom Chanel and Gucci. She’s one of the top spenders globally at Louis Vuitton.”

Julia's lawyer, Marty Singer, said in a statement that "the claims against Julia Haart are not based in fact and an attempt for Sylvio Scaglia to take the attention off of his own history of failed investments, (La Perla, Babelgum, Yewno). In fact, the company still owned by Scaglia that has any value is the company that was run by Haart, who took over the operations of the business and as a result its valuation has increased over 5 times from $90 million to $500 million."

“The account that is the basis of a lawsuit is a jointly owned account, and the same account that Mr. Scaglia used to pay his own divorce lawyers. Earlier today Julia filed an action in the Delaware Court of Chancery to address the actions taken by Mr. Scaglia, including her unauthorized purported termination,” Singer added.

Julia and Silvio recently appeared together on Instagram.

Despite their fresh split, the couple had been supportive of one another on social media fairly recently.

In September of 2021, Silvio shared a photo of Julia on Instagram writing, "So proud of my love @juliahaart in the @theellenshow today!" Julia also shared her own post last week that showed her posing in the back of a car with Silvio. She captioned her post, "And just like that.. we’re back! Day 1 of filming is complete ✅."

While the couple doesn't have children together, the news comes just months after Julia's daughter Batsheva and her husband Ben Weistein announced their separation following nine years of marriage.

No further details have come up regarding whether or not Julia and Silvio will remain in their Tribeca penthouse or if details on their divorce will come up in season 2. But a source did say that Silvio never wanted to be a part of the new season.

“Silvio told Julia months and months ago that he would not be filming,” an Elite source told us. “He thought that the first season was important to Julia, and that’s what she wanted, but then he saw the show and he thought, ‘What am I doing?'" the source told Page Six.
