This week's archive photo comes from April 2004 when then-Governor Bob Taft visited the Majestic Theatre and the Ross County Historical Society.
Taft was in Chillicothe at the time to see the newly-renovated historical society and the extensive renovation that was in the beginning stages at the Majestic.
"It demonstrates how much the community treasures its past and wants to bring the past to life," Taft said in a Gazette article in the April 16, 2004 edition.
He also said he was "blown away" by the renovated historical society and the wealth of history it contained.
"The museum is a terrific asset to the area. Hats off to all the people involved," he said.
At the Majestic, Ohio University-Chillicothe students entertained Taft with "Ohio and its First University," a theatrical depiction of Ohio's early history.
At the time of this visit, the old concession stand in the theatre had been torn out of the lobby, revealing a stained glass window and a portion of the original mosaic.
