Unknown odor sends 3 people to hospital in San Jose

(KRON) – Residents of a San Jose building evacuated and three people were transported to the hospital due to an unknown odor.

San Jose officers responded to the 600 block of Leigh Avenue to assist the San Jose Fire Department around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night. According to police, there were reports of a smell of an unknown chemical aerosol irritant.

The building was evacuated as SJFD hazmat and the SJPD bomb squad investigated the incident. According to the SJFD, three people were transported to the hospital as a precaution after experiencing minor respiratory irritation.

Police said nothing suspicious was located. The residents were cleared to enter the building around 1 a.m. on Sunday.
