United Way of Madison County asks residents to fill out ‘needs assessment survey’

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Right now, the United Way of Madison County (UWMC) and Alabama A&M University (AAMU) are conducting a Community-Wide Needs Assessment survey.

The survey is part of the assessment as a whole, which UWMC staff say can have a “transformational impact.”

The goal of the assessment is to identify the greatest needs of people in Huntsville and Madison County in hopes of better serving the community.

Any resident of Huntsville and/or Madison County can fill out the survey. The UWMC staff is hoping to get as many people to fill it out as possible. They added that the assessment results will help the agency work with other entities, like nonprofits, local funders, philanthropists and others, to protect local quality of life.

The survey asks residents to share their experiences and identify the need, or needs, they see in their communities and for their neighbors.

All survey responses are confidential and anonymous, meaning the identity of the person filling it out will be unknown.

Cathy Miller, UWMC’s community impact director, said the survey takes between 10 and 15 minutes and could contribute to a lifelong impact.

The results of UWMC and AAMU’s assessment are expected to be shared later this year.

UWMC is also recruiting volunteers who can help reach people who may have barriers to completing the survey online by themselves (barriers can include language, disability, age or circumstance). If you’d like to volunteer, call UWMC at (256) 536-0745.
