(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A creative educational venture seeks to combine music and athletics to promote a well-rounded approach to education.

The “Philharmonic Kids” concert series is headed up by Nathan Newbrough, the President and CEO of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, in cooperation with decorated Triathlete Hunter Kemper and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum,

“This initiative aims to bring music and athletics together,” said Newbrough, “emphasizing resilience and teamwork—qualities fundamental for success in life.”

Four concerts will be held on March 12 and 13 will feature performances by Philharmonic musicians and spoken narratives by Kemper. The concert series is a collaborative effort between the Philharmonic and District 11, led by Superintendent Michael Gaal. All District 11 schools will be represented, plus students from Academy District 20, Security-Widefield, and Manitou Springs District 14.

The four Philharmonic Kids concerts will be held at Wasson High School Auditorium, 2115 Afton Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on March 12 and March 13.

“The magic of music education lies not just in the sounds produced but in the cultivation of each child into a person of courage, creativity, and infinite possibility,” Newbrough said.
