Union County man dies after one-car crash near Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – A one-car crash resulting in a fatality Tuesday night is being investigated in Union County.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call reporting a serious vehicle crash at 9:20 p.m. on Raymond Road, just north of Barker Road in Paris Township, just north of Marysville.

Deputies and units from the Marysville Fire Department and the Allen Township Fire Department arrived and found a 2006 GMC Acadia resting on the bank of a creek off the road. The driver was partially entrapped in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

MedFlight was called to the scene and took 56-year-old Gary Jackson to Grant Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said that Jackson, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, lost control of the Acadia, drove off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and a traffic sign before stopping near the creek. It is unknown what initially caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
