Graduation day is a month away for thousands of students across Arizona. The University of Arizona class of 2024 in May will celebrate with their peers after many started their college careers in a global pandemic.

Actor and UA alumnus Craig Nelson, known for "Coach" and "The Incredibles," will give this year's commencement address. Nelson left UA in 1969 to pursue acting in California before completing his degree.

"Craig T. Nelson's career embodies the determination and exploration that we hope to inspire in all our graduates," said UA President Robert Robbins in an April release.

Here’s what to know for UA’s 160th Commencement.

When is UA graduation?

Spring commencement is at 7:30 p.m. on May 10 at Arizona Stadium and will last for roughly 90 minutes. Gates will open an hour beforehand and guests are recommended to arrive early. Tickets are not required for guests to attend, only students. Those who can’t attend in person can watch a livestream that will be emailed to students beforehand.

UA hosts more than 50 celebrations for various schools and cohorts throughout graduation season. A full list with dates and times is available at UA’s website.

What can I bring to UA's graduation?

Guests will need to abide by UA’s clear bag policy to bring items into the stadium. Clear bags no larger than 12 inches wide, such as a gallon-sized plastic bag, and clutch purses no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are allowed.

Other prohibited items:

  • Outside beverages (besides unopened water)

  • Coolers

  • Tripods or monopods

  • Any weapons or sharp objects

  • Balloons

  • Confetti

  • Airhorns

Additional venue questions can be directed to 520-621-3644.

Where should I park for UA's graduation?

University officials recommend parking at South Stadium Garage and other locations south of Sixth Street. A shuttle to and from Arizona Stadium is available at Sixth Street Garage, Highland Garage and Main Gate Garage.

For guests with a disability, a UA guide is available with resources for wheelchair rentals and ASL interpreting services. Cherry Ave Garage has access to the stadium through the southwest corner. The first two floors are for disability parking.
