U.N. passes resolution that advances bid for full Palestinian membership

The U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution on Friday that grants new “rights and privileges” to Palestine and urged the Security Council to approve its full membership. The resolution passed with 143 votes in favor, 25 abstentions and 9 votes, including that of the U.S. and Israel, against.
