“Where we are upgrading aging infrastructure in certain areas of the town with new infrastructure,” said Jacob Yanker, a Tyler Water Utilities project engineer.

This is just one part of Tyler Water Utilities’ ongoing improvement projects and it will help replace decades-old water mains.

“So the 2-inch galvanized lines are dating back to the 40’s and so when we replace it with a new 6-inch line it’s going to create better pressure and more volume that the customers will see,” said Yanker.

This TWU proposal will focus on eight areas throughout the city of Tyler.

“One group is the Elm Street group and the other group is the Earl Street group and between the two of them we’re going to be replacing over 11,000 feet of two-inch water lines,” said Yanker.

Through this replacement plan water pressure will get better across the city.

“We also loop dead-end mains to create a loop and what that does is we see increase quality and increased service to the customer,” said Yanker.

Yanker said they’re looking forward to starting nine months of construction, later this year at the end of Summer.

Tyler is working to upgrade water infrastructure and needed services in order to support the city’s continued growth.
