Two Wisconsin women sent to hospital after three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 14

VIROQUA, Wis. (WFRV) – Two Wisconsin women were sent to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash that resulted in one of the vehicles being stuck on its side.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, April 24, at around 11:00 a.m., deputies were notified of a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 14 at the intersection of East Smith Road in the town of Viroqua.

A preliminary investigation reveals that 18-year-old Hannah Simonson of Coon Valley was turning left onto East Smith Road off of U.S. Highway 14 when a crash with 53-year-old Sarah Buschman from Madison occurred. Buschman was traveling west on U.S. Highway 14, and after the crash, her vehicle overturned and rolled into a third vehicle, which was stopped at a stop sign on East Smith Road.

The third vehicle was occupied by the driver, 26-year-old Amira Al-Moussawi from Madison, and a passenger, 24-year-old Karl Grant from Belfast, Ireland. Following the crash, Simonson’s vehicle continued down into a ditch.

Buschman and a passenger, 79-year-old Donna Emerson from Barneveld, were transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, and no additional details have been provided.
