Two-vehicle crash on College View Road sends Rochester man to hospital

Apr. 22—ROCHESTER — A collision between two vehicles sent an elderly Rochester man to the hospital on Sunday, April, 21, 2024.

At about 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Olmsted County Sheriff's deputies responded to the site of a vehicle crash at the intersection of College View Road and Olmsted County Road 11/50th Avenue Southeast.

The first vehicle, according to the deputies' report, was headed east on College View Road and turning left (north) onto County Road 11. Meanwhile, the second vehicle was westbound on College View Road. When the first vehicle turned in front of the second vehicle, the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 91-year-old Rochester man, was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Marys with possible injuries to his back and neck. The driver of the second vehicle, a 47-year-old North Mankato man, was evaluated at the scene for similar injuries but was not transported for medical care, the sheriff's office stated.

The Rochester man, the driver of the first vehicle, was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way, the sheriff's office stated.
