Two Pa. men charged in deadly New Jersey stabbing

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men from East Stroudsburg have been charged with a deadly stabbing in New Jersey, and one is still wanted.

According to the press release, Jayson River, 23, and Ricky “Angel” Vargas, 36, both of East Stroudsburg, are charged with murder after a man was stabbed in Garfield, NJ.

New Jersey police say on February 4 around 12:45 a.m., officers were called for a stabbing and found 31-year-old Richard Franceschi of Hawthorne stabbed in the chest.

The investigation revealed that Vargas and Rivera, along with three New Jersey men were responsible for assaulting and stabbing Franceschi numerous times with a knife, police stated.

During the incident, detectives said Rivera had a firearm, and Vargas had a knife.

All three suspects were charged with first-degree murder while Rivera and Vargas face weapon charges.
