HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — A joint investigation by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two Houma men for alleged mini storage burglaries.

According to the TPSO, deputies began investigating the string of burglaries back in April.

The crimes took place on Bayou Lacarpe Road, Bayou Gardens Drive and Hollywood Road.

Terrebonne Parish deputies say during their investigation, they learned of additional burglaries that took place in Lafourche Parish.

The new information led detectives to a potential suspect, whose vehicle was caught on camera.

Investigators say they confronted the suspect, 25-year-old Robert Thomas Matthews, on April 18 in connection to a possible theft on Grand Caillou Road.

During an interview with Matthews, Terrebonne Parish deputies say Matthews revealed his involvement with the string of burglaries, as well as another suspect, 29-year-old Brett Anthony Bergeron.

Search warrants of two residences were issued and led to the recovery of the stolen items.

According to investigators, Bergeron, already in custody for Lafourche Parish cases, admitted to his involvement in the Terrebonne Parish cases.

Matthews and Bergeron are facing multiple simple burglary and attempted simple burglary charges in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes.
