Two-day July event is set to benefit Crawford County Fair

May 13—WEST MEAD TOWNSHIP — Plans are shaping up for an inaugural fundraising event at the county fairgrounds to benefit the Crawford County Fair.

The Crawford County Fair Friends and Family Freedom Extravaganza is a free-admission event July 5 and 6 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to Dean Maynard, fair board president. The fairgrounds are located at 13291 Dickson Road, off Route 77, in West Mead Township.

At its meeting last week, the Crawford County Fair Board got an update on the planned family-friendly event which will feature games, food and live entertainment on the grounds.

Country singer Garrett Owens is scheduled to perform a free concert July 5 at 7 p.m. at the grandstand.

"We'll have harness racing both days at 1 p.m. Vendors and food trucks will be on hand and an ice cream truck as well," Maynard said. "We're having Voodoo Brewery and Davenport Winery there. Pennsylvania Whitetails organization will be having bingo. There'll be a corn hole tournament, wagon and pony rides. We'll have basket raffles and 50/50 drawings as fund raisers."

In addition, the event working to get a car show lined up for the event as well.

"It's just a way for some family fun at midsummer, to raise community spirit and help the fair," Maynard said.
