Two arrested on cruelty to animals charges in Parke County

Apr. 9—A Marshall, Indiana, couple was arrested recently after Parke County sheriff's deputies investigated reports of animal neglect involving two service dogs, according to the sheriff's office.

Charged with two counts of cruelty to animals were Jayson Taylor, 30, and Jasmine Taylor, 27.

The sheriff's office said its investigation was in response to a Feb. 19 report of animal neglect.

The sheriff's office asked the Indiana State Board of Animal Health to help with the case. After lengthy investigation, state board veterinarians determined both dogs, which were temporarily in the Taylors' care, were considered to have severe malnutrition.

Both dogs are now back to healthy weights and are with the owners friends and family, police said.

Warrants were issued for the Taylors, and those were served without incident on Saturday night. Bond was set at $5,000 each, 10% acceptable.
