Donald Trump on Monday said he didn't accept money from a foreign government to pay his legal bills.

After a New York appeals court ruled that Trump has ten days to pay a reduced bond of $175 million in his civil fraud case, a reporter asked the former president if he accepted money from a foreign government to pay the bond, the fines, or any of his legal bills.

“No, I don't do that,” Trump said, speaking after a hearing in his hush money criminal case in New York. “I think you'd be allowed to, possibly. I don't know. I mean, if you go borrow from a big bank, many of the banks are outside of this — as you know, the biggest banks, frankly, are outside of our country, so you could do that, but I don't need to borrow money. I have a lot of money.”

Judge Arthur Engoron last month ruled that the former president must pay a financial penalty of roughly $450 million to the state of New York, when including interest, for lying about his wealth and assets on financial statements to inflate his value and dupe banks, insurers, and others.
