Donald Trump challenged President Biden to debate him this evening at the lower Manhattan courthouse where his hush-money case is on trial after his Democratic opponent — who was also in New York Friday — told Howard Stern he was “happy” to go head-to-head with his predecessor in office.

After months of deflection, Biden told the Sirius XM radio host he was ready to debate Trump.

“I am, somewhere. I don’t know when,” Biden said. “But I’m happy to debate him.”

Trump didn’t take long to respond.

He took to his social media website to respond on a lunch break during Friday’s proceedings, suggesting possible venues. Trump is on trial in connection with hush money payments meant to silence women with whom he’d allegedly had affairs, including porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal.

Maybe, Trump said, they could face off next Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday at a rally he has planned in Michigan.

Or, “In the alternative, he’s in New York City today,” Trump wrote in a lengthy post.

“In fact, let’s do the Debate at the Courthouse tonight – on National Television, I’ll wait around!”

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Before his comments to Stern, Biden had not committed to debating Trump.

Trump’s invitation came several hours after he told reporters he planned to fly down to Florida after Friday’s proceedings wrapped to spend time with his wife, Melania, on her 54th birthday.
