Trump resorts have a fake Time cover on the walls, featuring guess who?

President Trump, sworn enemy of fake news, is also a purveyor of it: the Washington Post reports at least four of his golf resorts have phony Time magazine covers featuring the commander in chief.

“Donald Trump: ‘The Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the cover reads, adding an emphatic “Trump is hitting on all fronts … even TV!” across the top.

The cover is dated March 1, 2009, the first day of the second season of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” the spinoff Trump hosted before he became president. There was no actual issue of Time with that date.

A spokeswoman for Time told the Post, “I can confirm that this is not a real Time cover.”

The White House’s response to the Post was both defiant and vague: “We couldn’t comment on the décor at Trump Gold clubs one way or another,” deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

The non-Trump-related headlines on the forged cover were all ripped from the actual March 2, 2009, issue. The Post story did not indicate who might have produced the dummy cover, or why.

Trump, by all accounts, holds Time in high regard, and has repeatedly claimed to hold the record for most cover appearances. In reality, he has been the cover star 11 times, a fraction of former President Richard Nixon’s 55 covers. A collection on Time’s website of all Trump’s covers reveals he only landed a cover once before running for president, in January 1989.

“This man may turn you green with envy — or just turn you off,” that cover reads. “Flaunting it is the game, and TRUMP is the name.”
