CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — While a criminal trial proceeds with jury selection in a Manhattan courtroom, former President Donald Trump will be in Charlotte this weekend for a private fundraising event.

The former president will attend a fundraising event for RNC Co-Chairs Michael Whatley and Lara Trump. The minimum admission price is $5,000 and that fee goes as high as $250,000 for a seat at the table.

The location and timing of the event are not being made public. Trump also plans to hold a rally in Wilmington Saturday night.

All of this comes with the backdrop of this week’s high-profile start to a criminal trial in New York where he is the defendant, and his current bid to retain the presidency in the upcoming high-stakes November election.

Trump has been attending court in person this week for jury selection and two seated jurors, one of them citing impartiality, have already been dismissed. It is unclear how long jury selection is going to take.
