Trailer, other equipment stolen in 'major burglary' at animal shelter in Apple Valley

An already struggling animal shelter in Apple Valley suffered another blow this weekend when staff discovered the shelter's customized trailer had been stolen in a burglary, along with computers, a generator and other equipment, according to the organization.

The theft was discovered on May 25 at the Victor Valley Animal Protective League, 21779 Zuni Road, representatives said in a statement posted to social media.

"We had a major burglary at our shelter in the last few days," the statement said.

In addition to a "specially modified" trailer emblazoned with the organization's logo, stolen items also included computers, a portable generator and animal cages, the group said.

Roughly 100 feet of chain link fencing was torn down during the break-in.
