Update: Traffic blocked on I-86 after truck crash near Corning

UPDATE: According to 511ny.org, I-86 near Corning is back over to allowing all traffic after several hours of delays and diverting traffic from a truck rollover Friday morning.


CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) — Traffic is being diverted to one lane on Interstate 86 near Corning after a crash Friday morning.

According to 511ny.org, westbound traffic on I-86 is backed up to Exit 48 after a tractor-trailer rolled over and crashed along the highway near Exit 47 around 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24.

Several witnesses have reported the traffic being backed past the Guthrie Corning exit to only one lane as crews work on an overturned truck on the highway.

511ny.org now reports that a section of I-86 is now closed with traffic being detoured off the highway from Exit 57 into Corning.

It’s unknown at this time what caused the crash, 18 News will update this story when the road reopens.
