More than 5,000 U.S. flights were canceled and more than 8,200 more were delayed Friday as of 4:45 p.m. as an Arctic cold front moves southeast across the country, threatening air travel during the season's busiest days, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.

Southwest Airlines had canceled almost 950 flights across the country as of Friday evening.

In Austin, 72 flights in and out of the city's international airport have been canceled as of Friday morning.

Here's a breakdown of Texas' most frequently flown airports cancellations and delays:

AUS: Austin Airport

Austin-Bergstrom had 250 delays and 72 cancellations Friday morning.

Southwest Airlines accounted for 120 of those delays and 36 of those cancellations.

HOU: Houston Hobby Airport

William P. Hobby Airport in Houston had 193 delays and 41 cancellations Friday morning.

DAL: Dallas Love Field Airport

Dallas Love Field had 258 delays and 58 cancellations Friday morning.

Southwest Airlines accounted for 251 of those delays and 56 of those cancellations.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston had 410 delays and 89 cancellations Friday morning.

United Airlines accounted for 204 of those delays and 33 of those cancellations.

DFW: Dallas International Airport

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport had 716 delays, and 176 cancellations Friday morning.

American Airlines accounted for 457 of those delays and 110 of those cancellations.
