A man was shot and injured Sunday morning off West Pensacola Street, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

The man was walking in the 300 block of Ausley Road around 9:25 a.m. when an unknown subject produced a firearm and shot at him, striking the victim as he ran away, TPD said in an emailed incident alert. The victim ran to a nearby convenience store for help and was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

"It is unclear at this time whether the suspect and the victim were known to each other," TPD said. "There are no suspects and no arrests have been made."

TPD added that the investigation remains open and active. Anyone with information is asked to call TPD at 850-891-4200 or the anonymous Crime Solvers line at 850-574-TIPS.

The shooting was one of two over the weekend. On Friday night, a fatal shooting occurred in northeast Tallahassee at the 7000 block of Ox Bow Road. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office has released few details about what it called an ongoing “death investigation.”

LCSO said an adult was killed in that shooting but did not release even the gender of the victim. The Sheriff's Office noted that “the people involved were familiar with each other” and “ “there is no threat to the community.”

So far this year, 11 people have died and at least 20 people have been injured in 28 serious shootings in the capital city and county, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
