Tornadoes, strong winds and hail are possible Tuesday night in northwest Illinois
Much of northwest Illinois, including the Quad Cities, Galesburg, Macomb, Aledo and more, are at a moderate risk of severe weather Tuesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, much of the northwest and the central western part of the state is at a 4 out of 5 for severe weather.
The NWS said all hazards are possible with storms Tuesday evening, including strong tornadoes, damaging wind gusts over 70 miles per hour and very large hail.
The Iowa-Illinois state line, along with Galesburg, is most at risk for tornadoes and high winds which could see gusts over 75 miles per hour.
The NWS believes the storms will hit in multiple rounds on Tuesday with the first round being until about 11 a.m. The second round is considered to be from 1 to 6 p.m., but there's a chance storms do not develop during this time.
The highest confidence the NWS has in storms happening is tonight after 6 p.m.
The NWS recommends you keep your phone charged, know how to evacuate/have a safe place to go and make sure you have emergency supplies.
The next NWS update for Tuesday's severe weather is scheduled for around 3 p.m.
