Tornado watch issued for Manatee County. Track storms with weather radar

A tornado watch that stretches from Florida's west coast to the east coast is in effect for 19 counties, including Manatee County.

Isolated to scattered severe storms with heavy rain and large hail are possible, along with the potential for tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay.

Tornado watch issued for Manatee County

The tornado watch is in effect until 11 a.m. as "a few strong to severe storms" moved through the area Tuesday night. Storms are expected to continue moving east early Wednesday morning, especially along and north of the Interstate 4 corridor, according to the National Weather Service.

""A tornado or two are possible in and near the strongest storms that develop," the National Weather Service Melbourne said. There also is a very low risk for a waterspout along the coast and along and north of the Interstate 4 corridor."

"Showers and storms are likely on Wednesday ahead of an approaching front. Severe storms and heavy rain all possible," The National Weather Service Tampa Bay said.

Storms are expected to affect the Nature Coast this morning before spreading into central and southern areas later in the morning and into the afternoon and evening.

• Volusia

Main hazards could include isolated to scattered severe storms, tornadoes and large hail, along with damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
