Tornado watch canceled for the Kansas City area Friday

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has canceled a Tornado Watch for several counties in the Kansas City viewing area Friday evening.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for several counties in the Kansas City area until 9 p.m. Friday.

On the Kansas side, this includes Atchison, Doniphan, Leavenworth, Johnson, Wyandotte, Miami, Brown, Douglas, Jefferson counties.

On the Missouri side, this includes Jackson, Clinton, Cass, Clay and Platte counties.

During a tornado watch, conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop, but a tornado has not yet been sighted or indicated by weather radar.

The FOX4 Weather Team reports strong to severe storms are possible Friday until 10 p.m. All modes/threats of severe weather are on the table.
