Tornado Hits Golf Course Designed by Tiger Woods’ Design Team

A tornado ripped across a part of Payne’s Valley Golf Course near Branson, Missouri. The public course was designed by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design team and is rated one of the top three public courses in the state of Missouri. The course is named for professional golfer Payne Stewart, who was from nearby Springfield MO. Stewart died in a plane crash in 1999.

Here’s the severe weather reports from Monday. You can see the red dot in southwest Missouri near the Arkansas border where the tornado hit the Payne Valley golf course.

There were 6 tornadoes on Monday, three in Louisiana, 2 in Missouri and one in northwest Florida. There were 129 reports of wind damage, mostly near the Gulf of Mexico, where there was one fatality and two injuries when a tree fell on a mobile home. Winds hit 82 mph at Milton, Florida.

Look at the blue dots out in Idaho. Winds hit 80 mph at Corey, Idaho and 64 mph at the Pocatello Airport.

There were also 34 reports of severe criteria hail, including two reports of hail bigger than golfballs in south Texas.

Strong to severe storms hit parts of the Chicago area Monday. Wind damage was reported at Lockport, Plainfield and Round Lake. Wind gusts hit 58 mph at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. Flooding was reported on I-57, I-90 and I-94. Chatsworth recorded 3.3″ of rain in 4.5 hours.

ALSO: Grand Rapids reached 80 degrees on Monday for the second time this spring. The last time we hit 80 was April 27. It was significantly cooler at the Lake Michigan shore. The Muskegon Beach had a high temperature of just 61° Monday afternoon. So far, the month of May is running 4.2 degrees warmer than average. Every month since Dec. 2023 has been warmer than average in West Michigan.
