FORT WORTH (CBS11) – Not too many recording artists come out of gate ablazing on their first song to chart that hits #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. But Katy Perry did. Born Katheryn Hudson on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara CA, she was raised by born-again parents. She was originally attracted to gospel music with some pop music “mixed in”. She headed to Nashville in 2001 and secured a record contract with Red Hill Records. Her first album was not commercially successful and eventually the record label closed down. She then moved to Los Angeles and changed her last name to Perry (her mother's maiden name). After several more years of songs and albums not hitting on all cylinders, she finally
She's currently coming to the end of her eleven-month Witness world tour. Hugh is clearly hitting the concert circuit hard! Earlier this week he posted a photo from the Pink concert where he snapped a pic with some of the dancers who starred with him in "The Greatest Showman."
The 38-year-old singer was forced to cancel concerts after experiencing 'excruciating pain' earlier this week.

She's well-known for her love of extravagant and colourful costumes. But Katy Perry opted for a more subdued look when she stepped out in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday. Perhaps hoping to go incognito, the 33-year-old pop princess covered up in a dark grey hoodie and large sunglasses as she indulged in a spot of shopping with a male pal. Looking almost unrecognisable Katy covered her trademark peroxide blonde locks beneath an Adidas ball cap. However, the Swish Swish singer made sure to flaunt her lithe legs in a pair of tight black leggings. Katy is currently in Australia for her Witness tour, and will play a show in Brisbane on Wednesday. And ahead of the big gig, Katy chose to fuel up
Pop star Katy Perry visited one of Australia's largest theme parks, Dreamworld, on Monday, almost two years since four people were tragically killed on the Thunder River Rapids ride. In snaps posted on her Instagram page, the Swish Swish singer was pictured fearlessly jumping on The Giant Drop, which falls from a whopping 119-metre height. A second snap showed the singer experiencing one of the scariest rollercoasters the theme park has to offer, the Hot Wheels Side Winder coaster. Almost two years ago four people died at the park after the Thunder River Rapids ride flipped one of the rafts, crushing two and leading to the drowning of two others. Of the four who died, two were mothers Kate Goodchild
Katy Perry made one young fan's dreams come true when she took to the stage in Melbourne on Sunday night. Alyssa Bugeja, a 14-year-old who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, was almost too sick to attend the concert at Rod Laver Arena, but her mother Julieanne was determined to get her there to see her idol. Her persistence paid off, with the 33-year-old pop star acknowledging Alyssa in the front row of the audience during her performance of Firework. 'What a night,' Julieanne wrote on Facebook on Monday. 'Katy Perry spotted Alyssa when she was singing Firework and she was looking at her singing to her. So passionately and from the heart. We were all in tears on the floor. 'Toward the end
Shakira fans waited long enough to see the Colombian superstar touring and back onstage in the United States -- seven years to be exact. And for some fans, like Joel and Karen, it was the first time they got to see Shakira live. “We drove eight hours from Minnesota just to see her,” said the couple. “We've been waiting since the '90s to see Shakira. I want to sing the oldies with her." "I've been practicing in my shower for the last 20 years,” added Karen. After a successful run in Europe earlier this summer, Shakira kicked off the U.S. leg of her El Dorado Tour at the United Center in Chicago on Friday (Aug. 3). The tour was rescheduled from January after the singer/songwriter had to postpone
