Topeka police find person of interest in Reser’s Fine Foods deadly shooting

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Police say they’ve found a person of interest in a recent shooting at a Topeka food plant.

The Topeka Police Department issued an update to the deadly shooting at Reser’s Fine Foods around 5:40 p.m. on April 13 reporting that Eddie Holmes, 65, of Topeka was taken into custody without incident. Police were looking for Holmes in connection the shooting and named him a person of interest.

Holmes was taken to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the following charges:

  • Murder in the 2nd degree

  • Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon

Police were called just after 4:30 p.m. on April 11 to 3167 SE 10th Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found one person suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead.

The shooting victim was later identified as 39-year-old Reginal D. Previtte of Topeka. Investigators said they thought the shooting was an isolated incident that occurred in the parking lot with no other injuries reported.
