Topeka man arrested for Emporia shooting Saturday night

EMPORIA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 39-year-old man from Topeka has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Emporia Saturday night.

According to the Emporia Police Department, officers responded just before 11 p.m. to the report of shots fired in the 700 block of State St.

Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect barricaded himself and four others inside the residence.

The Emporia Police Department’s Special Response Team executed a search warrant.

One person was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect was apprehended and taken to the Lyon County Detention Center, where he is being held on suspicion of shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault.

KSN does not identify suspects unless charges are filed in their case.
