May 22—By visiting our annual Poppy Distribution Drive-Thru on Thursday in the parking lot at 2101 Fox Drive, you'll be able to support the likes of the Honor Guard at Mahomet American Legion Post 1015.

Small but mighty, the 12-member crew performs when called upon throughout Champaign County. "It's very important to us," Commander Mike Cornwell said. "We want to keep our post active and operating so we can continue to honor deceased veterans and their families."

Post 1015 returns after missing last year's drive-thru, in which veterans distribute poppies in return for donations. Thursday's schedule:

6-8 a.m. — Urbana Post 71

8-10 a.m. — Mahomet Post 1015

10 a.m.-noon — Savoy Post 1492

Noon-2 p.m. — Champaign Post 24

2-4 p.m. — Shawna Morrison Post 2019

4-6 p.m. — Sidney Post 433

We've hosted Poppy Distrubtion Day since 2015. Donations will stay in Champaign County and help veterans and active-duty military and their families.
