Last chance to vote: What to know about Montgomery County primary school board candidates

Election day is here for Clarksville-Montgomery County's Presidential and County Primary, the first of three election days in 2024.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., election polls across Montgomery County will be open for voters to cast their ballots for candidates for the offices of Circuit Court Judge Part IV, Assessor of Property, Highway Supervisor and Clarksville- Montgomery County School Board Districts 2, 4 and 6.

Votes will choose political party nominees who will then face each other in August. According to the Montgomery County Election Commission, over 5,000 voters participated in early voting, with a majority participating in the Republican primary.

Below is a list of candidates for each party and what to know before you head to the voting polls.

Montgomery County Republican candidates

Circuit Court Judge Part VI: Ashleigh L. Travis, a Republican incumbent

Assessor of Property:

Erinne J. Hester, Republican incumbent

Caitlin Castle-Swaffer, Republican

Highway Supervisor: Jeffery H. Bryant, Jr., incumbent

School Board District 2:

Kacie Bryant

David Johnson

School Board District 4: Marlon Kent Griffy, incumbent

School Board District 6:

Charles D. Patterson, incumbent

Maribeth Knight

Christopher W. Lanier

Montgomery County Democratic candidates

School Board District 2: Ritchie Dale Patton, II

School Board District 6: Bernard Reginald Carter, Jr.

U.S. Presidential Delegates will also be on the ballot.

Where to vote

Montgomery County will have more than 20 precincts that will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Voters can view the full list of precincts on the Montgomery County Election Commission website or at the end of the sample ballot.

What to bring

Before going to vote, make sure that you have a Tennessee or federally-issued photo ID.

Following this vote, the candidates with the most votes in their primaries will face each other in the Aug. 1 election for their seats.

For District 2 of the CMCSS school board August election, Laura Barnett, an Independent, will also be on the ballot.
