Tioga County Pa. sees funds for emergency food and shelter programs

TIOGA COUNTY, Pa. (WETM) – Tioga County, Pennsylvania, has been awarded funds to be granted to agencies that provide emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

The Tioga County Partnership for Community Health announced in a Facebook post on Monday, March 25, that the county will be receiving federal funds that are made available through the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program to aid emergency food and shelter programs throughout the county.

PennDOT: Look out for volunteers cleaning up roadways

According to Tioga Partnership, Tioga County will receive $17,679 for these programs through Phase 41. The distribution of these funds to local agencies that apply will be determined by a local board of citizens from all areas of Tioga County.

To be considered eligible for funding, agencies must apply and meet the following criteria:

  • Be a private voluntary nonprofit or unit of government

  • Be eligible to receive federal funds (UEI number)

  • Have an accounting system

  • Practice nondiscrimination

  • Demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food/shelter programs

  • Have a voluntary board, if it is a private voluntary organization
