Tina Slendak and Don Clark react to winning district seats

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- Tina Slendak and Don Clark came out on top Tuesday. Now they say they’re ready to get to work.

“I think anytime you’re on a campaign you learn different things you maybe didn’t know but you also get a more up close in depth perspective from the constituent standpoint unfortunately a lot of constituents don’t feel heard they don’t feel as if they’re a part of the process and they feel they’re really are just kind of a pond,” said Don Clark, won District 5 Commission Seat.

Clark , a retired army veteran and former deputy director for Forces United, is ready to work for the people who voted to put him in the Augusta Commission.

Clark defeated commissioner Bobby Williams.

Tina Slendak won in District 7. She will replace term-limited commissioner Sean Frantom.  She says parks and recreation is the first initiative on her list.

“I just can’t stand the city pools being up and running and not being opened I don’t like that. I think the parks some of them are in terrible shape and I don’t think they’re being managed correctly there’s a lot of room for improvement in that and the money part of that,” said Tina Slendak.

Clark says there are plenty of things to be done in district 5.

“At the end of the day folks have fundamentals needs that they’re looking for in their neighborhoods a lot of them are looking for speed bumps to deter all of the speeding looking for their roads to be repaired lighting in a lot of areas a lot of safety issues,” said the District 5 commissioner.

Slendak also says even though she’s new to the role she’s excited to be the voice for district 7.

“Everything just fell in line I had already told my employer I was going to retire I’ve been interested in this for a long time and I just thought everything aligned why not just go for it.”

Slendak and Clark will take office in January.
