NASA hopeful from Port Jervis named Times Herald-Record Student of the Week

Tammy Degraw of Port Jervis High School is this week's Times Herald-Record Student of the Week.

Administrators who nominated her said Tammy is an outstanding senior at Port Jervis High School.

She will be attending Clarkson University in the fall of 2024, majoring in physics. She is very passionate about becoming a researcher for NASA.

Tammy is ranked in the top 10 in her class, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Youth in Government and Interact club.

School administrators said Tammy Degraw truly embodies what it means to be a Port-Pride Student and is among the best in this year's senior class.

Also nominated for the Times Herald-Record Student of the Week was …

Anthony Chevalier of Tri-Valley. Anthony is currently a senior who, according to the administrators who nominated him, is not only a leader in the classroom but also in the community.

Anthony has maintained a GPA over a 3.0. Anthony serves as a volunteer firefighter and is currently studying to be an EMT.

After high school Anthony will be attending Mohawk Valley Community College as part of their fire science program. School leaders say they are excited to see Anthony continue to grow in the future.
