Thursday night fire at an abandoned home in Geneva labeled a control burn
GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — A scary scene Thursday night in Geneva, as multiple fire departments were called to a structure fire.
The call was to a home on North Martin Street, but when crews arrived they learned that the home was abandoned and the fire was a control burn. Officials say the homeowners bought the abandoned home and decided to clear the land they had bought.
Crews were able to put out the blaze and on Friday morning neighbors were on the scene to help put air out of the remaining embers.
