Thunderstorm threats in STL metro, tornado watch up north through Tuesday evening

ST. LOUIS – Be on the lookout for various tornado and thunderstorm watches and warnings as severe weather rolls through the St. Louis region Tuesday afternoon into the early evening.

A tornado watch is in effect for Pike and Montgomery counties through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for St. Louis City, St. Louis County and many nearby municipalities in Missouri and Illinois through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

There have already been a few thunderstorm warnings issued around the St. Louis metro this afternoon during the 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. hours.

During a watch, atmospheric conditions are favorable for severe weather to develop, but it has not yet been sighted or indicated by weather radar. When a warning is issued, and if you’re in the area of severe weather, seek shelter immediately.
