Three Steuben County bridges closing May 13. Here's where, why and for how long

Major bridge projects will temporarily close three spans in Steuben County, all beginning May 13, according to public works officials.

The bridges are in the towns of Wheeler, Cohocton and Campbell and each will be down for various amounts of time to allow significant overhauls to take place.

Here are some details on the bridges, the work scheduled, how long each will be closed and the planned detours.

Mill Street bridge in Cohocton

The Mill Street bridge is located between Marks Road and Erie Street and crosses the Cohocton River.

It will be closed for all through traffic for about four weeks so a new wooden deck can be installed, according to the Steuben County Department of Public Works. There will not be an onsite detour.

Bean Station bridge in Wheeler

The Bean Station bridge is between Muck and Dineharts Crossing roads and it goes over Five Mile Creek.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic for approximately 12 weeks starting May 13 for a complete rebuild with concrete abutments and concrete deck beams. An onsite detour includes Bean Station Road, Depew Road, county Road 77 and Muck Road.
