Three men indicted for sex crimes against children in last week

May 18—Three local men were indicted by the grand jury for sex crimes against children in the last week.

According to police citations, 51-year-old Hank Adkins, of Richmond, began speaking to a 10-year-old girl via an online video game before Feb. 15, 2024. They allegedly moved communication to texting and calling over cell phones.

Police documents noted that Adkins sent the child photos of his penis and that she said he also asked her for "nasty" photos.

When confronted by police, Adkins alleged that while he knew the child was under 18, he thought she was older and that he did not ask for such photos.

He was subsequently arrested on March 19.

Adkins was indicted for the Use of Electronic Communication to Procure a Minor for Unlawful Sexual Activity and the committing the offense of Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor.

A second indictment for Glenn Garrett Long, Jr. states that he had induced a 13-year-old girl to take nude photographs of herself and to engage in unlawful sexual activity for financial gain via social media.

Long was indicted for the Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance, First Degree Unlawful Transaction with a Minor, and the Use of Electronic Communication to Procure a Minor for Unlawful Sexual Activity.

Finally, the charges against Larry Dixon originated from an undercover online investigation, which proved that Dixon had shared explicit images of children online.

The indictment said that Dixon shared sexually explicit images of children as old as seven and some younger than two, which led to him being indicted on nine counts of Distribution of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance By a Minor Less than Twelve Years Old.
