‘A threat to society;’ 17-year-old accused of multiple attacks on young girls

A Dayton mom says her 13-year-old daughter was badly injured when a 17-year-old girl jumped her and beat her at a park last Saturday.

News Center 7 obtained a police report that confirms the incident and the possibility that the 17-year-old has been responsible for other attacks on younger girls.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, the report redacts the names of the 13-year-old victim and the 17-year-old girl they believe is responsible for the attack because they are both juveniles.

The report said what happened at Washington Park off East Second Street and Woodley sent the 13-year-old to a hospital.

“She went up to my daughter, she was the littlest one there, she stomped on her when she was on the ground,” said Lindsey Sommers.

Her 13-year-old daughter is wearing a neck brace now, only one of her potentially serious injuries.

Sommers said her daughter may have an eye bone fracture, an arm fracture, and a potential spinal cord injury.

She spoke with police about the attack and filed a report, but she said other parents are now reaching out to share similar stories.

One guardian of a 14-year-old sent Sommers a video, telling her it was the same 17-year-old attacking another girl.

The video shows a hard-to-watch, brutal attack.

News Center 7 is checking Dayton police records to see if they’ve received reports about this incident.

A Dayton police detective working the case involving Sommers daughter wrote, “I put together the file and sent it to the juvenile prosecutor for consideration of charges.”

“I don’t want this happening to anyone else’s daughter,” Sommers said.

Sommers claims at least three other parents have confirmed to her that their younger teens were attacked by the same 17-year-old.

“I wanted to get this out because this girl is a threat to society, completely,” Sommers said.

News Center 7 checked with a juvenile court spokesperson late Tuesday afternoon. They said right now, they have no records of any charges, against the 17-year-old mentioned in the police report.
