Third annual Unrivaled 540 camp held in Salem

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – On Sunday, March 17, the third annual Unrivaled 540 football camp drew over 70 student-athletes from throughout the region. Players got the chance to showcase their skills while also getting the chance to be coached by Virginia Tech and UVA football players as well. The free camp also is a great way to provide student-athletes with opportunities that can help prepare them for the game of life.

“Seeing that a dream will come true this is actually something that we tell a lot of our young men to continue to dream because the dream will come through as long as you put hard work in it. So what we want to do is provide them with an environment that they’re able to do that and parents not feel strained or how I’m going to pay this or that this is why we do this for free.” says Director of Unrivaled 540 Jermaine Johnson.

For Director of Unrivaled Camps, Kirk Peterson the combine and camps are all about building men into better people.

“We just want to be a conduit to help them develop their skill set to make them better in the fall of whatever school they play for and hopefully be a drop of assistance with the recruiting process to help them get to college and ultimately get them a degree and have successful future.”

Over 70 athletes attended the event, and both Johnson and Peterson are ready for next years camp.
