‘Thank you’: Euclid PD’s heartfelt message to public

EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) — Despite mourning the loss of their own, Euclid police are taking time to share a note of thanks to the community for the outpouring of support in the wake of officer Jacob Derbin dying in the line of duty Saturday night.

Candlelight vigil Monday night for fallen Cleveland officers

Derbin was responding to a disturbance call when he was shot and killed. The suspect died in a standoff with a SWAT team Sunday.

On Monday, the Euclid Police Department posted a grateful message on its Facebook page to the public for showing support.

“We thank the public for your enormous outpouring of compassion and support,” the post stated.

“Thank you for the flowers and food being dropped off to the department and we are so appreciative of the kindness. If you would like to do something and are not sure what, donating gift cards at this time can be used by the department and family,” the message read.
