Tennessee Valley celebrates Good Friday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — In the Christian faith, Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Christ before his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Christians across the world and here in the Tennessee Valley are reflecting on those events.

Pleasant Easter weekend before storms set to return next week

In downtown Huntsville, former gubernatorial candidate Stacey George carried a 13-foot cross around Big Spring Park as a call for repentance.

Christians in cities across the U.S. carry crosses on Good Friday to remember the crucifixion and bear witness to Christ. This is the fourth year the event has taken place in Huntsville.

Evangelist Bo Shedd shared messages of Jesus’ love with park visitors.

“Our eternity was paid for when Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood,” Shedd said. “His blood paid the penalty for my sin and eradicated sin. My past is forgiven, my present secure, and future is eternal through Christ.”

On Sunday, churches across the world will celebrate Easter Sunday.
