Teens sickened after ingesting cannabis edibles on field trip to La Brea Tar Pits

Several teenage students became ill after eating was described as cannabis edibles during a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits on Tuesday.

Sky5 was overhead around 1 p.m. as Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the research site and museum located in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Eight students, described as both male and female, were on a field trip when an on-site security officer found them acutely ill, the Fire Department stated in a news alert.

Arriving paramedics examined the teens and determined “each had an altered level of consciousness, following their reported ingestion of cannabis edibles,” the Fire Department stated.

Aerial video showed several students being placed on gurneys and loaded into ambulances.

The Fire Department said students were in fair condition but were all taken to area hospitals for further assessment.

Officials did not identify which school organized the field trip.
