Teen wanted in Coal Township shooting turns self in, jailed on $250K bail

May 22—COAL TOWNSHIP — Coal Township police say a 15-year-old Shamokin resident is in jail after turning himself in to police Wednesday in conjunction with a shooting incident on May 14.

Aiden J. Scott, of South 7th Street, was arraigned by Shamokin District Judge Bill Zalinski and sent to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, police said.

Coal Township police issued an arrest warrant last week after officers said the teen was involved in a shooting in a wooded area near railroad tracks in Coal Township, just south of Vine and Harrison streets in Shamokin.

Police said Scott fired a pistol at another 15-year-old, who was also from Shamokin. The victim was struck in the upper right chest area and "sustained a serious bodily injury," according to police. The victim was transported first to the Shamokin Police Department, where first aid was administered. The teen was then transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital before being flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Scott has been charged as an adult due to the seriousness of the incident, police said.

Scott is being charged with felony aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person.
