This case stems from an incident that happened on March 17 in the 1900 block of Dayton Street. At around 7 p.m., a 24-year-old Aurora resident called 911 to report he was the victim of an armed carjacking.

Officers located the stolen vehicle several minutes later speeding near the intersection of Dallas Street and East 25th Avenue. Officers started chasing the stolen vehicle with lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop.

The chase ended when Leon-Madera hit a speed bump in the 1900 block of Dayton Street, lost control and crashed into several cars. A man who was in one of those cars died at the scene.

The victim was identified as Oliver Gongora, originally from Nicaragua.
