Teen ambushed former friend and stabbed him in Nottingham

A teenager hid in undergrowth before ambushing a former school friend and stabbing him in the neck, back and arm.

Finelson Galiano's victim was found by police sat on a pavement after the incident in Nottingham Road, Cinderhill, on 22 June.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and he was stabilised after emergency surgery.

Galiano was handed six years in a young offenders' institution for wounding with intent and cannabis possession.

Galiano waited for his victim to leave the gym before he carried out the attack.

Officers who attended the scene were able to identify Galiano as the attacker that night, said police.

Galiano, now aged 18 and of Honiton Road, Nottingham, was arrested at his home and officers found cannabis in his bedroom during a search.

Premeditated attack

He was also given a restraining order during sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

Det Insp Lisa Jones said: "Galiano made no comment during interviews. However, through investigative work detectives believe this violent attack was due to a fall out between two teenagers.

"Galiano left his home equipped with a knife, found the victim, hid in some bushes and carried out an unprovoked, premeditated attack.

"Thankfully, the victim is now much better due to emergency treatment at hospital but his injuries are life-altering.

"The incident could have been even more serious given Galiano stabbed him and then left him by the roadside."
