It's tee off time for Wood Library's mini golf event. What to know
CANANDAIGUA, NY — If you want to help Wood Library, then book a tee time for a round of 18 holes, miniature golf style. The Canandaigua library’s popular mini golf fundraiser returns Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23.
Artificial greens are set up around the inside of the library for mini golfers to show their stuff. Each hole is different and decorated by event sponsors. In addition to the putting fun, visitors can take part in raffles, a silent auction and photo booth.
How popular is the event?
Last year, the two-day event sold out — with nearly 400 golfers participating — and more than $30,000 has been raised for the library over the three years the event has been held.
What's the Friday Fairway Frolic at Wood Library all about?
This part of the fundraiser is for adults.
From 5 to 8 p.m. March 22, mini golfers ages 21 and up tackle the course.
Registration is now open for the friendly competition on 18 holes. The 19th hole includes libations, tastings by Star Cider and appetizers.
The cost is $25 per person. Advance registration is required to reserve a tee time.
Library Links is for families at Wood Library
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23, the library will host families and friends for mini golf. This includes toddler holes for the youngest putters, and a special appearance by the Canandaigua City School District’s gray wolf mascot.
The cost is $5 per person and free for children ages 4 and under. The maximum group number is six.
Advance registration is required to reserve a tee time.
How do you get tickets and register?
Tickets are available at https://woodlibrary.org/minigolf/ or by tapping your phone on the QR code found on posters around town or at the library.
Why take part in the mini golf event at Wood Library?
The event is fun and a great way for families and friends to spend time together, according to Wood Library Executive Director Jenny Goodemote.
Also, all proceeds from the event are used to support Wood Library’s essential services and programs.
Goodemote said 72% of the library’s operating budget comes through the tax levy.
“Everything else we fund raise on our own,” Goodemote said. “These types of events are extremely important to help us balance our operating budget.”
