Taskmaster's John Robins has shared a rule that exists on the comedy show.

Currently appearing in the 17th series on Channel 4 – opposite The League of Gentlemen's Steve Pemberton, Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, and comedians Sophie Willan and Joanne McNally – the BBC Radio 5 Live presenter joined Ed Gamble for the latest episode of Taskmaster The Podcast.

While referencing one of the classic tasks, which challenges contestants to come up with the riskiest thing to do without breaking an egg, Robins recalled asking to head up to the Taskmaster roof.

"One of the rules is you can't go on the roof," he revealed.

In the end, Robins had an egg plonked into the driver's seat of a car, explaining to Gamble: "If there's any doubt about the riskiness, I refer you to the two-hour conversation we had about insurance.

"I'm not joking. Loads of calls were made to various car insurance companies to see if we can have an egg in the driver's seat, because the egg was in the driver's seat. Everything you see in that video is happening.

"Obviously, there are sort of hands and arms helping do bits of steering, but mainly it is me in a passenger's seat while a car swerves out of the way of a cow with an egg on it into a brick wall. So, it was actually very risky," he laughed.

Further along, the star also mentioned how he needed to buy a second Freddie Mercury jacket for continuity reasons. "They want you to have a spare in case anything goes wrong, like if anything gets covered in indelible ink," he told Gamble.

Talk about pricey.

Taskmaster airs and streams on Thursday nights at 9pm on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
